thanks dude, what are processes of fbi green monry pack to stop for manual removal, can u name them

  • Jeff Mackey

Zain, I do not think there are any processes to find and/or delete or end for this virus. This one is very nasty and does not let anyone manually remove it. I had to use the SpyHunter download to remove it. There really is no other way other than doing a Windows system restore.

Have spent the better part of my weekend trying to remove this FBI Moneypak greendot message. My PC would not let me use most of programs nor surf my favorite sites using IE (google Chrome would atleast load a few pages). I finally gave in an tried an antimalware program download. So far it has found and removed 14 infections and looks like this FBI virus was one of them. My issue now is my wallpaper background is gone. The PC is working faster and boots faster, though. Why does my background go away? Did this FBI virus remove it? I can load a new one no issue, just wanted to know why it goes away after scanning and removing the FBI virus?

ATTENTION! THERE IS AN EVEN NEWER VERSION OF THIS VIRUS THEN IN THIS VIDEO!!! Hello,

I want to relate my fight with FBI Green Dot MoneyPak to help other unfortunates.

First, I was surfing with no virus protection and logged in as administrator, so I deserved it.

It locked my computer up. I could not get any variety of safe mode to work, it just rebooted. I found that is I disconnected the internet, it would run almost normally except that batch files would not run. I used this opportunity to copy my user files to a dvd. I tried 2 different virus programs, but with the virus running, there was no chance. I decided to do a non-destructive system restore. I booted to the restore partition and started into it. The last question was – did I want to try Windows restore (to an earlier date). Nothing to lose, I said yes. It worked. Windows rebooted and started the restore program before the virus had a chance to run. The only problem I have found since is that batch file have to use the full path to run properly.

    Good luck.

okay… I’ve tried both norton (didn’t detect apparantly, or my computer shut down before the scanning and fixing went throught) and spy hunter found a bunch of viruses, but it said it wouldn’t do a thing until I bought another version. Could someone point me in the direction of a command prompt crash course?

  • Dave

When I restart my computer in safe mode with networking or just safe mode the greendot maoney pak appears ans i csan not do anything.

  • steve meyer

Yes, this malware angered me greatly. I found that if I disabled my wireless internet (shut it off at the box) then did a system restore, the Malware didnt pop back up. I then trned the internet back on, downloaded this website’s program and I hope I have no further problems. kind of disappointed that my virus check (Norton) wasn’t able to detect or remove this malware. Shouldn’t it alert me when I download a virus or be able to find it when I do a full system scan?

  • Stanley

Somehow when I purchase SpyHunter, I still needed to go into Safe Mode with Networking for this to be completely removed. Why is that? I know this FBI Green Dot message was on my PC for about 2 weeks. I am thinking it may have propagated and infected more of my system for the reason that Safe Mode only worked to remove it. Anywho, it is gone now and I thank you for the honesty in a solution that does not cost as much as Best Buy’s Geek Squad!

  • Otto Zentite

Good post. I love this site and downloads too.

  • Paul Nevil

    This is what I did…

    1) Download the spyhunter install file to a USB drive

    2) Boot or turn on the infected computer (safe mode might be required if the virus keeps popping up when you first start up)… use the instructions for safe mode with networking!!!

    3) Install & run the scanner and see if it finds the FBI Green Dot.

    4) Register the scanner and have it remove FBI Green Dot and other malware.

    5) Restart again normally (let your computer boot as normal) and it should be faster.

    Good luck!

    Hello Scott,

One of our staff members had a similar experience and it was found to be where the infection caused drivers to be disabled while it infected the computer. Removal of the virus/ransomware was fully completed with SpyHunter, however, restoring the drivers is not something any antimalware or antivirus program would do. Basically, the infection did its damage before SpyHunter removed it. In such a case, the infection did serious damage to your system’s drivers and registry where those drivers may need to be re-installed. It has nothing to do with the abilities of SpyHunter or any other antimalware program removing the FBI green dot malware. Hope this clears it up for you. Let us know if re-installing your keyboard and mouse drivers resolves the issue.

    Thank you!

  • Christi

    gooooood!!!

I just got this virus again for the second time. It seemed to come from a pop-up on an image-hosting site.
The fix (Windows XP) was to find the executable file. In this case it was WLSIDTEN.EXE located in C:\Documents and Settings\*USER NAME\Local Settings\Temp
There was also a WLSIDTEN.DLL file. The first time I got this infection there was an additional LSASS.EXE file located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data.
Also check to make sure there are no shortcuts to any of the EXE files in your Start Menu’s STARTUP folder.

Delete all the listed files. This can usually be done in safe-mode.

If you have a version of this crapware that disables your safe-mode (like I did this time) you may have to access your boot drive using another computer or operating system. In my case, I removed my hard drive, placed it in an external shell and used my laptop to delete the files.

I then replaced all of the deleted files with dummy files. (0-byte, read-only replacements) to prevent re-infection.

To make dummy files, open a new text document, rename it (including the extension!) and use Properties to make it read-only.
If the virus attempts to re-install itself, it will find the exectutable files are already there and it won’t be able to overwrite them.

  • Stu S

Moderator, please add to my previous post:

Be sure not to remove any LSASS.EXE that’s located in C:/Windows/System32 or any other Windows subfolder. This is a legitimte windows file.

  • Kevin McCloud

    Keep on working, great job!

  • Heather

I totally am loving this website :D definitely gonna have to add this to my bookmarks for next time I get a virus or malware infection like this FBI mess.

  • Regan Buffington

If you boot into safe mode with networking and then use spyhunter scanner it will pick this virus up right away. You will need to pay for it to get it to remove. It was worth it for me. Just some tips for you guys with this aggravating fbi green dot message.

My internet was down because of this. I had to put Spyhunter download file on a usb drive from my laptop and then load it from the usb on my dell desktop pc. That worked and I was able to have it update via internet and then remove the FBI virus thing. The message is now gone after reboot.

  • Keith Conti
